Crossing them are three medieval bridges, with one of them – then Twyford Bridge – reckoned to be one of the finest of its age in south-east England.

On of the largest hop growing parishes in this country, Yalding is surrounded by typical garden of England scenery dotted with orchards and oast houses.

Once a centre for the Wealden iron industry, the village later became an important shipping

point for local fruit, and later Kentish hops.

The third Saturday of every month is the time to shop for tasty tea-time treats such as breads, cakes, jams and chutneys, at the popular Yalding Farmers’ Market.

The market takes place in the High Street from 10am to 1pm, with an offering of competitively- priced fresh produce. The next ones are on July 18, August 15 and September 19.
