New! Anthem Now Accepted for Advanced Depression Treatment

ocally owned Casco Bay TMS announced today that it now accepts Anthem Insurance as an in-network provider for TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation.) TMS is non-invasive, FDA cleared, outpatient therapy that has helped thousands of depression patients who have not received adequate results from anti-depressants or cannot tolerate the medication side effects. Company offi cials expect this reimbursement change to enable many more Maine people access to this powerful and successful treatment for depression.

L

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is a cutting edge treatment for depression. The treatment uses magnetic pulses to change the activity in the brain. The magnetic pulses produce small electrical currents activating cells within the brain that are thought to release neurotransmitters. Since depression is thought to be the result of an imbalance of these chemicals in the brain, TMS can restore that balance and, thus, relieve depression. TMS is also used for other neurologically based conditions, but is FDA approved only for depression.

Casco Bay TMS’s results surpass the national averages. Over 60% of patients who complete the treatment achieve remission. Their depressive symptoms are successfully treated. Casco Bay TMS has been offering TMS services since 2011. They were the fi rst TMS service provider in Maine. Sean McCloy, MD and Miles Simmons, MD are TMS trained physicians who provide the treatment.

The offi ce is located at 222 Auburn St. in Portland. For more informa- tion, please visit www.cascobaytms.com or call 207-233-8804 for a free consultation.

Note: Other insurance benefi ts are accepted on an out-of-network basis. All insurance approved therapy requires pre-approval.
