hurled at his windscreen from the pavement along the Southern Distributor Road in Ringland, shatter- ing it and leaving him un- injured but shaken up. The brick bounced off as
it shattered the glass. He told the Campaign he sawa
gang of 10 to 15 youths whom he suspects had visited a lo- cal fast food restaurant at the Coldra roundabout immedi- ately before the brick was hurled at the lorry. Mr Rodgers said: “If I had crashed into them we would have been in serious trouble. The chemicals I was carrying would have blown us all up. “It’s just unbelievable. I
have never had this in my life. I’ve never had anyone be so stupid.” He added he was angered
it could have left his two daughters, Demi Levi, 19, and two-year-old Ava Drew, without a father and his part- ner, Heather Grant, alone if the worst had happened. Gwent Police confirmed
they are investigating. A spokeswoman said officers attended after being called to the incident but no one was found. Anyone with information
is asked to contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Family pull together to aid cancer research
A FAMILY who run a cafe have raised more than £12,000 for blood cancer research. Lisa Edwards, of Kerry’s
Café Bar in Caerphilly, her daughter Sophie, and their family and friends, organised a fundraising dinner in mem- ory of Lisa’s husband, Kerry. Mr Edwards died in March

the event, including family, friends, and many of Mr Ed- wards’ former colleagues. An auction and raffle was
held on the night, which raised £12,717.75. This includ- ed £1,400 match funding from the Santander Foundation. Rachael Davies, regional manager for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research in Wales, said: “I really appre- ciate all Lisa’s hard work to make it such a success.”
Keep them occupied
