On marriage The Sims are going strong

62 years later. They say marriage is about doing the little things and taking care of each other. Jeannie says she is losing her vision, while Oscar has some trouble hearing, so they look out for one another. Marriage, to them, is about being straightforward. “It’s being honest with each oth-

er,” Jeannie said. “You have to love the person. You really do.” “You know, we both knew people

before we got married. In fact, some of my old girlfriends she met,” Oscar added. “But we fell in love.” Life treats them well, Jeannie

says. They share advice for younger people looking for their own long- standing marriage. “Think about it and be sure that’s

what you want,” Oscar said. “Don’t just jump into something.” “When you get a little age on you,

you’ll know,” Jeannie said, adding: “It’s been a good 62 years, and I

wouldn’t want it any other way for the entire time.”

Oscar and Jeannie Sims, both 87, share a moment. After 62 years of marriage the couple still loves to hold hands.
