TheLife Helping heroes
Colin Blears, Quest’s product development manager, is raising money for Help For Heroes by embarking on three personal challenges including a trek up Ben Nevis. Colin is undertaking the challenge alongside his mother and Falklands’ war-veteran father. Ben’s sister and brother-in-law are
currently on tour in Afghanistan; Colin says he decided to take on some personal challenges in a bid to support the British troops and its related charity. Colin has also signed-up to do a skydive and is to take a 400ft bungee leap of faith in October at Chepstow Quarry. Of his challenges Ben said, “The main event is a trek up to the summit of Ben Nevis – which is significantly different from my daily routine which typically includes trips to Starbucks and sitting in front of a computer delivering innovative solutions for our customers.” To support Colin visit

Five in five days Conveyancing Data Services (CDS), part of Badger Holdings, is one of the main sponsors for this year’s mammoth ‘five in one’ charity challenge, which raises money for The Shooting Star CHASE children’s charity. part in his eighth (and “definitely his last”) CHASE five day, five challenge event. The team of 18 will climb Scafell Pike, the
highest mountain in England, on day one then; on day two they will complete a 50 mile off-road cycle; day three is a run/walk marathon along the Dorset coastal path; day five entails a 75 mile road ride and finally the team will take a 25 mile paddle down the Thames. Tony said, “CDS’s donation will go towards ensuring we have all the right equipment, transport and accommodation meaning that every penny raised from the event will go straight to the charity and not towards cost.” For more information and to donate go to

Broker says, “get on yer bike!”
‘If I were you’ is supporting the ‘On Yer Bike Challenge’ where Stoke City’s Tony Pulis and ‘Stokie Blokey’ comedian Nick Hancock will cycle the 960 miles from John O’Groats to Land’s End in just four days in support of the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice. As well as its corporate sponsorship, ‘If I
were you’ took part in a 10k run in which the company raised over £800 for the Children’s Hospice and more initiatives are planned including a 960 mile staff relay on exercise bikes. Melanie Mills, Director of Fundraising and
PR for the Trentham-based hospice, said, “It’s great news that ‘If I were you’ is supporting us and getting on their bikes too! Their money will make a huge difference to all the families who use the hospice.” The money raised will bring a smile to
nearly 200 children and their families who get support from the Hospice every year. The challenge is to raise £100,000 to help fund the vital help and support the organisation gives, free of charge, to families from all over Staffordshire and South Cheshire. For more information see www.
