days. And, while I will be taking advantage of a direct flight to enjoy the sun and sand this winter for a couple of weeks with my family, as a Winnipegger, I will also be enjoying some time in the snow. Te season may not be warm, but it is gorgeous. Tere is nothing quite like waking up to a

wonderland covered in hoarfrost. So, this year I encourage you to take a look at all of the fun outdoor activities Manitoba has to offer and try one. Go skating along the Red River, take a walk at the zoo or Fort Whyte, tour our iconic winter festival, the Festival du Voyageur, or take a daytrip and go skiing or snowmobiling. Whatever you choose, dress warmly and wel- come the season with all its glory. I do understand that winter may not be everyone’s favourite season. Tis issue we highlight

some fabulous warm getaways for you. Perhaps we can help you decide or even plan a second vacation. After all, winter around here can last for a long time. A resounding thank you to all of you who have shared your postcard pics and photos with

Te Hub. Our previous issue made it all the way to Scotland, at the Inverness Airport Fire Hall no less! Keep those photos and pictures coming. We love them. Happy holidays and enjoy!

t’s inevitable, winter is finally upon us. For those of us who call Manitoba home it’s of- ficially time to find a way to escape to sun and sand – even if it’s just a brief reprieve. Tankfully you can reach most of our sun destinations in under five hours direct from Winnipeg Richardson International Airport!

If your travels have brought you to our province this winter, we hope you enjoy your stay.

We always love hearing stories from travellers who have witnessed their first snow fall, or made their first snowball, as it gives us time to pause and appreciate the beauty in a Manitoba winter. Winter also gives those of us who are warm and cozy inside, a new appreciation for those

who spend their days working outside no matter the weather. At Winnipeg Richardson In- ternational Airport we have a dedicated and hardy group who devote their winters to keeping our airport operating. Tey spend their entire summer getting us ready for winter, and then spend the entire winter keeping our runways and roadways clear from snow and ice. You can read more about the job of our winter operations team in this issue. Whether you are heading to sand, or joining us for the snow, we hope your journey is enjoy-

able and all you imagined! If you have a moment, feel free to share your travel photos with us on Instagram @YWGairport.
