Rory Underwood MBE helps charity raise over £40,000 in Skydiving Challenge

n Friday 1 August and Saturday 2 August, 64 brave challengers raised over £40,000 for

Worthing-based national charity The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home by taking on a tandem parachute jump at Hinton Skydive Centre near Brackley, led by former England & British Lions International Rugby player and former Royal Air Force Canberra Pilot, Rory Underwood MBE.

The event was to raise money and awareness for The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home – a national military charity which offers nursing and rehabilitation services to physically disabled ex-Servicemen and women.

Sponsored by leading administrative services company Equiniti, the event took place just before the country commemorated the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. QAHH formed as a charity on 9 July 1919 to care for the injured soldiers returning from the front lines and chose to do this challenge event in aid of its 95th year of operation.

Many local and national businesses took part in the challenge event along with

relatives of residents, members of the Armed Forces and nursing staff at the Hospital Home:

"The Skydive event for QAHH was utterly brilliant. The total raised in sponsorship for such an amazing cause was a testament to the work that QAHH performs. As for the day itself, the camaraderie with the QAHH team and the other jumpers was unbelievable, and the skydive itself was unforgettable.

A fantastic day!“ – Chris Coopey, Partner, Carpenter

Box Chartered Accountants.

Stuart Seagar, who jumped with Equiniti colleague Jamie Myles said, “Doing a Skydive has been a personal ambition of mine and I took the plunge to do it for QAHH as I once had members of my family who served in both the first and second world war. I also take my hat off to the soldiers, sailors, airmen and veterans who risked their lives to give us what we have today.”

Event ambassador, Rory Underwood MBE, who also jumped despite his fear of heights said, “Having spent 18 years flying with the RAF it was an honour to jump alongside those who have raised funds for disabled ex-Servicemen and women. I visited the Hospital Home back
