taking your children under our wing Support for toddlers to teens from the RAF Benevolent Fund
WHAT IS AIRPLAY?
WHY IS THE RAF BENEVOLENT FUND INVESTING IN AIRPLAY?
The RAFBF understands that the pressures on RAF personnel and their families are
significant. And it’s not just parents who struggle to cope. We know that children growing up on RAF stations face their own unique challenges – living in remote areas with little to keep them occupied. And it doesn’t help when Dad or
Mum is deployed for long periods at a time. Airplay was created in response to this.We believe that by improving the quality of your children’s lives, we can also help take some of the pressure off you!
Whether you’re at home or
away on operations – you can relax knowing that your kids are being taken care of in a safe and stimulating environment.
“ To have support
like this when your partner is away is priceless.
Airplay Parks represent a leap
forward in the sports and play facilities available for young people living on RAF stations. More than 80 Airplay youth
workers are now based at RAF stations across the UK. They provide invaluable assistance to RAF Community Support teams, giving
them the trained staffing needed to deliver more and better activities for young people. Sergeant Rob Francis and his
wife Joanne are based at RAF Marham and have found the MUGA and play park invaluable facilities for their daughters Chloe, 13, and Lauren, 11 to meet up with friends and have fun. Having served in Afghanistan,
Iraq and the Falklands, Rob is often away on tour, leaving Joanne to care for the girls. She said: “The play facilities
are hugely important. Chloe can come here and get away from the pressures of home and school life and I don’t have to worry about strangers. To have support like this when your partner is away is priceless.”
Airplay is the RAF Benevolent Fund’s £24 million support programme for RAF families. We’re providing a huge range of facilities, equipment and activities for toddlers through to teenagers on 28 RAF stations across the UK.
Airplay has three main elements:
• Airplay Parks: brand new multi-use games areas (MUGAs) and rejuvenated play parks
• Airplay Youth Support: safe, supervised activities delivered by trained youth workers
• Airplay Childcare Centres: making childcare more accessible and affordable by building childcare centres on or near RAF stations.
