Haberdashers’ celebrating 400 years of educational excellence

Monmouth Schools

Set in the beautiful Wye Valley, Monmouth School and Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls offer the best of both worlds: the advantages of single sex education with regular, joint after school and weekend activities for boys and girls, and a coordinated Sixth Form timetable, offering around 30 AS/A Level subjects. Outstanding results enable the vast majority of our pupils to gain access to their first choice university and to pursue careers as diverse as medicine, law, engineering, business, sport and the arts.

Monmouth was listed in the Sunday Times Top Twelve Locations for Schools and Tatler Schools Guide 2013 described the schools’ fees as “among the best value in the country”.

Founded in 1614, Monmouth School and its preparatory school, The Grange, know how boys develop best. With boarding from 9, the School offers extra-curricular activities to allow boys to excel not just academically, but also in music, the arts, sport and adventurous, character-building pursuits. Frequently placed in the top 10 boarding school for boys based on A level results.

Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls and its preparatory school, Inglefield House, offer a nurturing and aspirational environment. Filled with energy and happiness, there is a sense that pupils, day and boarding, can achieve extraordinary things with the support and encouragement of staff and fellow pupils. Ranked top in Wales for A*/A grades at GCSE in 2013, HMSG welcomes its new Headmistress, Caroline Pascoe, in April.

Haberdashers’ Agincourt School and Nursery provides a happy, confident start to school life

for girls and boys aged 3 to 7. With a high level of individual tuition and extensive outdoor space to play in and explore, children at Agincourt thrive through a full curriculum and 14 extra-curricular clubs.

An extensive bus network covers Monmouthshire, Herefordshire and the surrounding counties.

To mark the 400th Anniversary of Monmouth School and the William Jones’s Schools Foundation, over 500 pupils performed in a Gala Concert at the Wales Millennium Centre and over 1,000 pupils will travel in a fleet of coaches to St Paul’s Cathedral for a Service of Thanksgiving. In addition, there is a royal opening of the William Jones Building, a new teaching and administrative centre, as Monmouth School looks forward to the next 400 years with confidence.
