About five years ago the couple decided to extend the property, adding a new wing which incorporates a large kitchen/breakfast room and a guest annexe with a bedroom and en-suite. The annexe can be accessed separately from the rest of the house and looks out over a walled “Secret Garden”. What was previously the kitchen has been converted to make Brian’s office and the new kitchen is now open plan to a more formal dining area, which was part of the original house. French doors from the kitchen open onto a sheltered terrace where the couple have sought to create a Mediterranean feel, prompted by the fact that at one time they considered moving to Spain.


The terrace abounds with fragrant lavender and to form a focal centrepiece the couple have planted an olive tree, which is more than 200 years old and which gives the “Olive Tree Terrace” its name.


The main garden, to the back of the property, is south-facing and features a beautiful old copper beech tree, beyond which the eye is ever drawn to those arresting views … somewhere, in those rolling Herefordshire hills, the couple hope to find their next home!
