taurant is set in the heart of Melfort Village, a small holi- day village nestled in the hills and oak woods at the head of Loch Melfort, Argyll, Scot- land, some 16 scenic miles south of Oban. Named after an unusual occurrence near Melfort House in 1821, as recorded in the Edinburgh New Philosophical Journal, when a shower of herring fell from the sky, the Restaurant has been providing delicious food and friendly hospitality to cottage residents, visitors and locals alike since about 1987.

Whilst visiting the Shower of Herring, you can view the paintings and prints of fea- tured artists displayed on the walls which are available to purchase. They offer books and magazines to browse and FREE Wi-Fi whilst enjoy- ing a warm cup of Caffia cof- fee or tea and home baking. Children will enjoy running about in the adjacent Play park with climbing frame, slide and swings.
