I
n the last issue of Lotus Guide I had more than usual to share as this spring was bursting with celestial activity. Though certain planetary configurations have shifted and the planets continue to orbit onward, their energy and influence stay with us. The planets do not compel, they impel. Life remains an inside job. With that said, let’s look at the next few months ahead. As our long, hot days
continue through summer, our astrological weather greets us on July 1 with Mercury moving direct after another retrograde period since June 7. (That’s when Mercury appears to move backward in the sky.) Periods of Mercury retrograde motion often correspond to snafus in travel, communications, technology, automobiles—anything that helps us get from point A to point B, literally and metaphorically. These periods occur every three months and last about three weeks. They are perfect times to reassess, review, and reorganize our ideas and plans so that we can optimize chances of success.
the largest planet in our solar system, leaving Cancer and entering Leo on July 16 for approximately one year. Jupiter is traditionally referred to as the “great benefic,” and his transits are generally pleasant, serving to expand our horizons and consciousness in the areas of our personal lives where the planet’s influence falls. But it also can exaggerate conditions, for better or for worse.
Jupiter brings fortuitous
In early July, we begin to see forward movement in our ideas and all types of projects in which we are involved. But do not be surprised if significant progress isn’t evident until after July 17, when Mercury leaves its “shadow.” That means passing the 30 Cancer mark it had reached before beginning its retrograde motion in June. The most significant
astrological event of the summer is that of Jupiter, king of the ancient pantheon of gods and goddesses and
opportunities, but they remain just that unless we reach out, grab them, and take advantage of the gifts offered. In Leo, there is a desire to improve circumstances through creative and educational activities, especially where Leo is found in your horoscope. For those of us with strong Leo placements, such as the sun, moon, or ascendant, this period can bring new and stimulating opportunities to grow in meaningful ways, increase confidence, and produce long-term positive and tangible results. Though we all have the 12 signs inherent within us, they play out in different ways unique to each one of us.
