Bearsted & Thurnham Carnival & Fayre 2014
The fayre’s chairman June Wilkins said: “It is really great to lend support to both organisations as they have supported the fayre over many, many years. We have had access to the pavilion for all sorts of benefits over the years and it’s nice to do something in return.
“The Scout movement has also been a loyal supporter of the fayre, their barbecue on The Green has acquired legendary status as a provider of great food and drink on the day. Now we can say thank you.”
Various village groups and organisations will also benefit from this year’s event.
The fun starts at noon with the
judging of the carnival procession before it leaves Madginford at 12.15pm. Led by the 2013 carnival princess Rebecca Tunnicliffe and her deputies, Eleanor Haywood and Katie Dadswell, the parade will wend its way to Bearsted Green for the opening ceremony at 1.15pm. The organisers hope that a senior serviceman will be available to perform the official opening.
As usual, the occasion boasts numerous stalls and sideshows – a host of old favourites and a few new ones.
Downs Mail will again sponsor the carnival princess award and there will be a children’s fancy dress
