ASSOCIATE COUNCIL NEWS
Building Connections by Getting Involved
f you missed the April Associate Council meeting, you missed an exciting panel of speakers! Tim McGonagle with Keystone Classic Homes, Martin Weiner with Level 4 Homes, and Keith Luechtefeld with Shea Homes, discussed some crucial topics including lot development, areas in which builders are concentrating their efforts, and the introduction of Shea Homes to the Houston area, just to name a few.
I
A notable discussion point was the vital trade relations builders have with their current vendors. This, in large part, is thanks to the GHBA for facilitating the connections between trades and home builders. Each panel member stated that being a GHBA member plays a vital role when selecting new trade partners. With this being said, it is not enough to just be a member, you have to get involved!
In past articles, I have spoken about the importance of getting involved. If you are not serving on a committee, now is the time to join one. Your participation plays
a crucial role in building relationships with other members, GHBA staff and your customers. There are so many options for getting involved. If you are not sure where to start, just ask one of our veteran members. New members, don’t be afraid to seek out a mentor to help guide you in areas of involvement that will be beneficial to you and your organization.
As the Associate Council plans for upcom- ing monthly meetings, we like to look back and see what topics or guests were most successful and beneficial to our members during the previous year. With that being said, Kim Lawrence and her team have lined up an exciting line-up for the June meeting. A panel of purchasing managers from major builders in the Houston area will share their insight. This will be a popular meeting, so pre-register as soon as possible at
ghba.org/calendar.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the next Associate Council meeting, and in the interim, make it a great May!
