Thames Valley Property Forum announces 2014 programme

The Thames Valley has for many years been in the shadow of London, a poor relation to the bright lights of the West End and City locations where investors have found rich pickings. However, with the Centre for Economics forecasting growth of 3.3% across the South East, M25 towns, such as Reading, Basingstoke and Guildford, will reap the benefits, writes Matthew Battle, director, UK Property Forums

Business occupiers, residents and increasingly investors are viewing the Thames Valley with renewed optimism and seeing it as a region of real economic value. It is against this positive backdrop that this year’s Thames Valley Property Forum is taking place on September 11 at Ascot Racecourse. The conference will again bring together key people from the public and private sectors to debate the issues of the day.

Why work on a roundabout when you can work on a green valley?

How is the digital economy shaping the occupier of the future? What does the Thames Valley property market need to do to attract more medium-sized

businesses away from London and the ubiquitous Silicon Roundabout?

The future of business parks

Business parks are now an integral part of the Thames Valley corporate landscape. What are the drivers for their continued success and how do these business communities adapt to survive as town centres, such as Reading and Maidenhead, evolve into regional hubs.

Changing occupier trends

The logistics, distribution and industrial sector is now an essential part of the Thames Valley property mix. What does this mean for the region and how will

the dynamics change as we move inexorably towards a digital High Street?

Heathrow Airport – the future

Following the Davies Commission’s initial report, Heathrow Airport is now firmly in play. What are the options for growth, how do Heathrow North Runway, Gatwick and the Heathrow Hub compare? And how serious a continued threat is the Thames Gateway?

Retail expansion

As the role of the high street continues to change rapidly, what are the opportunities for the Thames Valley towns? Do attitudes towards new developments such

as those in Wokingham, Bracknell and Maidenhead need to change?

A Garden City for London

Can the Thames Valley act as a location for people to live, work and play in, or is the region destined to become just an overspill for London as the capital’s housing shortages worsen and Crossrail nears completion?
