• Leading law firm Pitmans has made five promotions, including two to director and two to partner. Promoted to partner are Owen Reynolds (top) and Phil Smith (second from top). Reynolds, a prominent member of the family and matrimonial team, is a specialist in matrimonial finances including divorce, cohabitee disputes and Children Act matters. He also undertakes prenuptial and cohabitation agreements for the prevention of future disputes. Smith, an active member of the dispute resolution team, has been with Pitmans for nearly nine years and acts for businesses, insolvency practitioners and individual clients on a full range of contentious issues. He has particular expertise in technology, real estate and professional negligence disputes, as well as contentious insolvency matters and costs, and was recently commended in the 2014 edition of The Legal 500 as "a first-class litigator". Newly-promoted directors are Mark Metcalfe (centre) of the corporate team and Julian Richards (second from bottom)of pensions. Having qualified just 4.5 years ago during the credit crunch, Metcalfe has done particularly well and his promotion complements the firm's already-strong corporate team. He specialises in all aspects of corporate finance work, with a focus on mainstream M&A work and corporate banking across a range of sectors. With the M&A marketplace gathering momentum he is well placed to develop his practice and has established a strong network of contacts throughout the Thames Valley. A London-based pensions specialist, Richards advises on all aspects of occupational pension schemes, including scheme organisation, restructuring and de-risking strategies. He specialises in advising on managing section 75 debt on employer cessation events and has been particularly involved in advising trustees and employers on modifying debt and re-assigning scheme liabilities through both scheme and flexible apportionment arrangements. As Pitmans continues to grow, so too has its marketing and business development team where Sophie Jenkins (bottom) will be stepping up to marketing manager. Having led the recent redevelopment of
Pitmans.com, she manages all elements of the firm’s digital strategy.
