On behalf Of all our members it is a very great pleasure to offer you the warmest of welcomes to Royal Liverpool 2014 – a year when the club will add to the pantheon of historic Champions who have triumphed over this hallowed ground, with the staging of the 146th Open Championship. Is it really eight years since Tiger
Woods, the best golfer of his generation, tamed these links so clinically in that garden party atmosphere of great weather and celebration? It is remembered fondly by so many, not least because it very firmly put Hoylake back on the golfing map, and confirmed its genuine golfing credentials for another generation. It was a lasting example of a links presented in its raw unadulterated form, matched by some of the most precise and high quality ball striking ever seen in the game. Minor adjustments are all that have been necessary for the next instalment in our Club’s proud and distinguished history. The links are quite rightly the focal
point for all our visitors and guests but while you are with us try and take some time to enjoy the full Hoylake experience. Take advantage of the welcome, the friendliness of the staff and members, glance at the Honours Board, enjoy the vista from the Club Room, and absorb the history that surrounds you.

Purchasing in the shop will provide the opportunity to meet with the artist, Lee Wybranski, and have your poster signed. opengolfshop.com. It goes without saying that this annual
magazine would not exist but for the generous support of our advertisers. To all of you we offer our sincere thanks. The Company Golf Day is one of the highlights of the Club’s calendar, and we will be delighted to act as hosts. Our thanks also go to everyone who
has contributed articles and photographs to the magazine. Each annual edition swiftly becomes a collectable item of golf memorabilia and your hard work and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated. If you visit Hoylake we hope you play
straight and true, avoid the rough and the terrifying bunkers, and enjoy the thrill of walking in the footsteps of the greats of our game. Take away some great memories on and off the links – they will surely enrich your game and bring you back for more! n
