Here’s my top tip for working out your angle of approach and how to strike the sand the correct distance from your ball. Suppose you have a fried egg
ready in a frying pan. Picture the angle you need to get your spatula over the edge of the frying pan and under the white of
the fried egg so you can lift the egg with the spatula cleanly out of the pan.
The spatula is your wedge. The
white of the egg is the entry point in the sand. The yolk is the ball. It may seem an unusual way of visualising a shot – but it works as sure as eggs is eggs!
