DON’T MISS TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB
Take a gig like the recent Bombay Bicycle Club sell-out at the UEA – witnessed and loved by many, that astounding one band’s performance alone would be enough to etch a big mark on your musical calendar for 2014, but when you get a band like BBC playing as just one small part of an entire festival bill, as they are for this year’s Latitude Festival, you know the best is yet to come. Tis summer, relive that BBC experience as they headline Latitude, right next to colleagues Two Doors Cinema Club, Haim, and Tame Impala. Damon Albarn and Black Keys are two names that UK festivals would fight to the death over, and Latitude have emerged victorious with those musical masters on board. Great music isn’t the only thing Latitude has to offer though. Its unique atmosphere and magical location, has deemed it a family-friendly festival, so if your parents are into having a party as well, you might just take them with you. Perhaps they’re too old to cut loose on the great musical vibes Latitude has to offer this year? No worries, you can drop them at one of the many comedy shows on the arena or put them in front of the film preview of Tim Newton’s ‘Art Party!’ Latitude has a heart for every sort of culture, while the audience is the blood that makes it beat. Are you in for a massive party? Touring festival Sonisphere is coming back to Britain after two long years of absence. Te organisation is clearly going to make it up to the British metal lovers by hosting such titans as Iron Maiden, Metallica and Limp Bizkit on the Knebworth stage this year between 4 and 6 July. Sonisphere sets up its stage all around the world and will be celebrating its 40 years of music next edition. Perhaps that is another reason why they’ll be hosting such terrific names again? It seems, by the way, that they hope to broaden their horizons this year. Just recently, the organisation announced that Gary Numan will be joining in with the festival to give the more eclectically-minded some relief from the metal scene. Say goodbye to your savings, because this is an event you definitely have to check out. Diversity, heavy guitars, lots of booze and a great atmosphere. Who’d want to miss that? For 215 pounds you’ll have admittance to the entire weekend and camping, but you also get a massive metal feast on top of that. Tree days, four stages, dozens of bands and probably one big-ass hangover afterwards. What more could you want? Take my money and shut up. YP
