We look forward to providing ample rac-

restricted Ontario Program races, a horse must be out of an Accredited Ontario Broodmare, and if it is sired by one of these Accredited Stallions, it will be designated Ontario Bred and Ontario Sired, and thus qualify for the most opportunities to race. If the horse is sired by any other stallion and out of an Accredited Ontario Broodmare, it will be designated Ontario Bred. If you are already breeding your mares to produce Quarter Horse race horses, or if you are interested in joining this Program, the details of the Development Program and how to gain accreditation for your broodmares, stallions and offspring can be found at www.ontarioracingcommission.ca. Any other questions may be directed to Monique at the QROOI office at the above number.

Quarter Horse Sale, the Sales Incentive has been reinstated to provide a 3-year benefit to sale hors- es, based on their racing performance in Ontario. The incentive has been continued at $25K for 2013 and $25K for 2014, with a cap of $2,500 for each eligible horse. Originally set up to support an annual Quar-

earned by fillies competing in the Princess Stakes races. Based on performance in these races, a cer- tificate in the amount of $4,000 or $6,000 was issued to the filly, redeemable by the current owner, upon having successfully produced an Ontario Bred foal. While the stakes race was dis- continued in 2013, there are currently 96 fillies that have not had their certificate(s) redeemed. This has occurred for a variety of reasons includ- ing that the mare is still racing or not considered good breeding stock. The change will allow an owner of an eligible filly to transfer and use the incentive to produce an Ontario Bred out of another mare that they own. In its submission for the change, the QROOI cited the need to stimulate the Ontario breeding industry in order to ensure future racing stock.
