programs and opportunities for youth. In April 2004, she was honoured by AQHA with an appointment to the AQHA Youth Committee and continues to serve on this Committee to-date. OQHA nom- inated Kathy as the 2004 Ontario Eques- trian Federation People Make A Differ- ence Award. Kathy served as the 2008 AQHA Youth World Cup show manag- er. She submits AQHA and OQHA news and information articles to The Rider to assist in the marketing and promotion of the American Quarter Horse. She is a member and director of the Canadian Quarter Horse Association and chairper- son of the CQHA Youth World Cup Committee for 2013-2014. In 2011, she was appointed the AQHA Director for Ontario.

Paul is the President and CEO of

Home Hardware. Paul and his wife Jo- Anne have raised and shown horses for more than 30 years. It has been a lot of fun and also rewarding to see what becomes of the horses as they grow and develop and move off the farm into their own unique careers. The best thing that Paul enjoys about showing Quarter Horses is meeting peo- ple who come from all walks of life, but share a common bond - the love of the Quarter horse. Many people sacrifice life’s comforts just to be able to spend time with their horses. These people are always willing to give you a hand, a leg up or a kind word of encouragement. When attending the OQHA Annu-

al Awards Banquet and many other OQHA and promotional club events, you will often notice a number of items on the silent auction table donated by Home Hardware or hear them mentioned over the PA system sponsoring a certain event or contributing to a free meal for all to enjoy. Home Hardware has been a gracious supporter of the OQHA for a number of years and this support is in fact due to the generosity of long-time OQHA member Paul Straus and his wife Jo-Anne. Paul can be seen at many OQHA shows throughout the year sport- ing an infectious smile and friendly atti- tude, taking care of their horses and spending time with their many horse show friends. Paul is a very strong supporter of

every Quarter Horse from his involve- ment in Area 2, Area 3, his generous support of the OQHBF and his involve- ment in all the silent auctions each and every year. Paul and his family continue to support our many trainers who in turn help to build our association. Paul mentioned his trainers Diane

Ewing, Scott Ewing, Mike and Darci Rapley and Jessica (Hammer) Lange. Paul always speaks and recognizes

the many past and present men and women who have promoted the OQHA all these years. They volunteer their time to ensure that the members can enjoy showing and promoting their horses. They do this by listening to the mem-
