COMMUNITY

The choir now has over 30 committed, beautiful ladies and we have welcomed five babies, with more on the way, who have joined us for many a rehearsal. Our wonderful Musical Director Andrea Lambelle who has worked wonders in bringing us to the harmonious level we now are.

This whole experience for us has had many a learning curve, many a tear but many, many smiles and lots of homemade cake!

At this point I would like to add some personal quotes from the ladies of Cosford Military Wives Choir:

Rosa: “I look forward to choir every week and miss it terribly if I can’t go. It is like a breath of fresh air when you are having a tough week. I enjoy singing, I enjoy performing, but most of all I enjoy the sense of community and togetherness that choir brings. We really are “Stronger Together”. The cake is not bad either!”

Georgina: “Thank you ladies for making me feel so welcome. I was terrified when I walked in but you all made me feel at ease. Really glad I joined.”

Karen: now posted: ”When you don’t have children it is difficult to meet people, so when I saw the Choir advertised and I joined, it is one of the best decision I have made to come along! I have met some wonderful people and made some life-long friends... it really has had a big impact on my life.”

Imogen: “I had always enjoyed singing in school productions and a community choir and was thrilled when I heard a Military Wives Choir was being started at Cosford. I had recently moved to the area and did not know anyone before arriving here. The Cosford Choir has been a wonderful support and I have treasured the

ability to just be me and not ‘Mum’ or any other label given as you go through life. The warmth, friendship and encouragement of all the ladies is unconditional and I look forward to every week.”

We wanted to share this experience with other service wives, partners, girlfriends, daughters, really anyone female with a service connection, Your community may need something like this to bring you together doing something for you as independent women. As choir lead now for the second year I write this with huge pride and a sense of future promise that this has and will continue to make a big impact on my future, and I couldn’t be happier.

All of this could not have been possible without the support of RAF Cosford, Central Fund, Chaplaincy Centre, Community Development Officer, OIC Sgt Jawz Brown, Military Wives Foundation and of course our families and friends, lastly but far from least

‘Cosford Military Wives’. We would like to acknowledge our many thanks to all.
