Page 26 Hi All!
Well, I was out and about on my travels last month and I caught up with one of the Costa Blanca’s newest and most original duos, “The Cover Brothers”.
Bill Keats and Tom Stone met and started playing music together at the end of 2012, and have built up an ever increasing fan base in Torrevieja and surrounding area.
Bill Keats is on Lead / Rhythm Guitar. Originally from Stoke in the U.K., he worked for the water board until deciding to take an early retirement and re-locate to Spain several years ago.
Bill spent many years working semi professionally as a Guitarist / Vocalist in various bands playing the Working Men’s Clubs and the pub circuit around the Midlands and sometimes further afi eld. He has a wealth of experience and talent which shines through in his performances. He lives in Torrevieja.
On Keyboard / Vocals is Tom Stone. Tom is a native of Norfolk (now residing in San Miguel), but spent 30 years living in County Durham.
Tom passed his Grade 5 in piano tuition in 1960. It was during the 1960s that he joined the Merchant Navy, where he remained until also taking an early retirement and moving to Spain.
What struck me whilst watching this affable musical duo at work, was that many of the songs in their repertoire, although well known songs, are numbers that I have never heard any of the other local bands doing.
The Cover Brothers repertoire is very extensive and varied, crossing the decades, songs we all know from The Eagles, Rod Stewart, Marmalade etc. Their rendition of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” by the group Deep Blue Something was brilliant ...One of my favourite songs of all time! ...well done guys!
If you would like to see The Cover Brothers in action, they perform every Sunday night at the The Ship Inn, which is situated at the Marina in Torrevieja.
On this particular evening, it is an “Open Mike” night. So if you like to sing or play an instrument or both
.....don’t be shy, come along, you will be assured of a warm welcome and you can be confi dent of having the best of musical backing from Bill and Tom.
For any other of their forthcoming appearances, check out the local press for dates and venues where they will be performing.
If you, like me, enjoy good music performed well
....don’t miss the chance of seeing Bill and Tom a.k.a. The Cover Brothers.
