Lions and friends help the President celebrate
Over 100 people gathered at Restaurante Lo Marabu in Doña Pepa, Quesada recently to help Lions Club President Janette Bennett celebrate a very special birthday. Also attending were members of the Extinguished Firefighters, staff from Specsavers a huge
contingency from Scotland plus many of Janette’s friends. The entertainment commenced and Janette was given a huge surprise when only a few minutes into the evening the party was joined by members of the Torrevieja Pipes and Drums who entertained with many traditional Scottish pipe tunes including Scotland the Brave, Amazing Grace and of course Flower of Scotland, which the Scots present sang along to with gusto. Although it was not specifically a Lions fund raising event, Janette could not resist the opportunity to have a raffle in aid of the Torrevieja Costa Lions Club which raised 305 Euros. A great night was enjoyed by all, and over the next three days the Scottish contingency tried their hardest to drink Lo Marabu dry!
