Quesada Bowls Club was opened in 1997 by well know England International Bowler, Andy Thompson. Over the years it has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the strongest clubs on the Costa Blanca, where its members include a host of Spanish International Players.
The Bowls Club offers a varied programme of events, and has an active Social Committee running a variety of activities throughout the year.
Quesada Bowls Club has been proud, over the years, to host many Spanish National Tournaments, and last year won the National Titles in the Ladies Fours and the Men’s Triples and took second place in the Men’s singles.
The Club has a number of its members playing a signifi cant part in the activities of bowls in the whole of Spain under Lawn Bowls Spain with its National Director, John Muldoon and Treasurer Deidre Leeming, who also serve on the Spanish Nationals Championship committee along with its competition secretaries, Derek and Veronica Sale.
This year we were proud to have one of our players, Peter Bonsor, captaining our Spanish Team in the European Championships, which were held this year in Spain with many European Countries participating.
The Club is proud to boast a number of highly qualifi ed coaches and instructors and is able to offer tuition to new bowlers.
With the continual progress of bowls in Spain, this year Quesada is hosting a test match between the Spanish Squad and the Scottish Commonwealth Games Squad where we will be welcoming some of the top Professional Bowlers, such as Alex Marshall, Paul Foster, Darren Burnett, Margaret Letham and Lyn Stein among many other famous faces usually seen on TV.
This event is to take place on 26th and 27th April from 10.30am to 4.30pm and everybody is welcome to attend.
