HELP Veja Baja Friendship Centre – 10th anniversary


On Monday 10th March, HELP Vega Baja’s Friendship Centre, celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a party in the meeting and tea-room of the Church La Parroquia Cristo, in La Regia. The group was originally set-up to support housebound and isolated English speaking people, by giving them a few hours respite and companionship, in a caring and loving environment.


Those present felt very honoured to have Paul Rodwell


the British Consul take the time in his very busy schedule, to attend the event. Trish Felvus the Organiser for the HELP Friendship Centre and Ron Perrin HELP’s President, welcomed Paul Rodwell; who gave a short speech on behalf of the British Consulate, praising the assistance and encouraging such activities and support for expats, from associations such as this. The guests’ usual table games and conversations continued after the speech, whilst Paul Rodwell was introduced to some of the volunteers. This was followed by an enormous feast that was enjoyed by all and had been kindly prepared by the volunteers who support the group. The Parish Priest, Don Joaquin Carlos Carlos, then gave Paul Rodwell a guided tour of his new church, after which Paul Rodwell had to take his leave. After the raffl e draw, to raise funds towards the groups autumn coach excursion, guests departed with more party treats and the knowledge that they have the support of people who care for them. If you know someone who is unable to get out and about, is lonely or, if you know a carer who needs a few hours on their own, tell them about the Centre. It could be the answer to their prayers!


WHY NOT COME ALONG to “the Help Friendship Centre”. We meet most Monday afternoons between 2pm and 5pm at the Church La Parroquia Cristo in La Regia. For more details call our San Miguel offi ce on 966 723 733, Monday to Fridays between 10am and1.30pm.

Ayuntamiento. Free Entry. New and nearly new goods, plants, home produce, tea and coffee bar. Bay Radio Road Show. Three country dance demonstrations. All proceeds to local charity.
