The heart of coffee
Despite big brand coffee houses dominating the streets of Cirencester, one independent coffee shop is taking the town by storm. Megan Archer went to visit Cotswold Artisan Coffee to find out how it manages to stand out above the rest. Pictures by Richard Pasco
COTSWOLD Artisan Coffee is tucked away in Cirencester’s only shopping mall, enticing customers in with the warm and delicious aroma of fresh and locally roasted coffee. Husband and wife team Barry and
Mandy Cook only moved into the shop in August last year yet they have already made a name for themselves in the area.

part of its charm. We’re starting to see regular customers and we’re often quite busy,” said Barry. “Cirencester has a good reputation.” The couple had a coffee and sandwich
shop in Swindon before but decided to move to Cirencester because they felt their new shop would be more suited to the
area. Both naturally friendly, it is clear they
always recognise their returning customers as well as warmly welcome their new ones. The shop itself has a cosy feel to it, being neither cramped nor ever overcrowded. “We’re a specialist coffee shop,” said Mandy. “We’re not the same as the others
