NCW PERIOD SET: BBC filming an episode of Doctor Who in Victoria Place, Newport

NEWPORT was again used as a film set when BBC cameras were set up in StowHill. A group of people in

Victorian style dress were walking up and down Victoria Place last week preparing for filming for the next se- ries of BBC One’s Doc- tor Who. But there was no sign of the new Doc-

tor, Peter Capaldi. A bright spotlight shone down the street as technicians prepared the scene. Three student house- mates found out there would be filming down the street on Facebook and went there. Han- nah Enell and Kyle Thomas, both second year animation stu-

dents at the University of South Wales and big fans of the pro- gramme, said they had watched the setting up for about half an hour but that there was no sign of the show’s stars. Mr Thomas said: “Now I’m really pleased I can say I’ve seen it being filmed.” Their third house-

mate, Will Baldemor, said he was excited because it was the first time he had seen a film crew in action. Newport was also used recently used by the BBC for its drama series Casualty. A car was smashed into a demountable building in Pill as fans watched on.
