Indeed, they are not easy to find for starters and when found ‘you have to be flexible and adapt to your environment.’ Even going to the supermarket is suddenly not so easy and mindless. You need to figure out where it is, how to get there and how to pay for your groceries. You may want to ask yourself if you really are ready for cultural overload.


The benefits of a cultured industrial placement should not be understated; however. You will get real life working experience that could turn into a future job. Placements also give you something that you can put on your CV and talk about at an interview. Not everyone ends up working for industry giants such as BP and Google, and not everyone wants to. At the early stages of your career, you are looking for your first step in the door to show companies what you can do. What you need to consider is that placements can found in the UK and abroad. Trying to get an international placement may be something you want to consider. You can also have a lot of fun doing things you have never done before and gives you something to talk about at an interview.
