Pizza Fusion

Committed to Sustainability by Tina Winland

T

he Pizza Fusion motto, “Saving the Earth, one pizza at a time,” supports the restaurant’s environ- mental commitment, which goes far beyond the food it serves. Regarded for its forward-thinking business approach, Pizza Fusion upholds some of the strictest environmental practices in the restaurant industry. The local Pizza Fusion team in- cludes business partners Brown Thomp- son IV and friend Jim Toffoli, as well as other friends and Thompson family members that embrace the philosophy and mission of the international organic pizza restaurant chain. The two men opened their first Pizza Fusion res- taurant in Fort Myers nearly five years ago, and last fall introduced their new location in Naples at The Gateway of Naples shopping center on U.S. 41. Known worldwide for an organic, artisan menu of handmade pizza, sand- wiches, salads and desserts, Pizza Fusion also features locally brewed organic craft beers and wines sourced from organic and sustainable wineries. In addition to expansive lunch and dinner menus, the restaurant offers gluten-free, vegan and dairy-free entrees and desserts. Considered the number one green

franchise in North America, Pizza Fu- sion upholds its mission from the origin

of their food to their care for the health of customers and the environment— which is reflected in the interior design of the restaurants, which incorporate en- vironmentally friendly and recycled ma- terials. “Walls are built with reclaimed Chicago bricks, and dining tables are made from reclaimed bowling lanes. LED lighting, sensor-equipped lights and faucets, low-flow dual flush toilets and compostable to-go utensils and contain- ers are just some of our many green initiatives. Additionally, deliveries are brought to your door via a low-emission Smart Car,” notes Thompson, manager of the Naples restaurant. Thompson notes that weekly eve- ning special promotions include free cheese pizza night with the purchase of another comparable pizza on Mondays, as well as other special offers through- out the week. “Once people discover us, they keep coming back,” comments Thompson. Pizza Fusion in Naples and Fort Myers offers dine-in, takeout, delivery within a five-mile radius of the restaurants and catering.
