Issue 151
January 2014
HAP – sorry, I shouldn’t shout. If you’re all suffering from the post-apocalyptic hangover – the one where you’re pretty certain the booze has reached boiling temperature and is trying to make its way back out of every possible crevice in your body, mostly your eyes, mouth and bum, I can only offer you one consolation… Your liver will almost certainly repair itself. In around 30 days. Only if you never touch a drop again. What never quite gets the same kind of cleansing, however, is your mind. Over Christmas, you may well have seen, heard and tasted things only excusable over the festive period, and for that, I hope your burnt retinas and other sensory organs don’t keep you awake at night. And so it is, this dull as fens-water month stretches ahead of us, and I can only hope this wee magazine offers you the tiniest respite from your sorry existence. Not helping? Tat’ll be the three- day hangover fear and depression kicking in. But fear no more, this month, we’ve put together a one-off feature on how to de-December yourself: a get fit guide by the most lardy of creatures known to man… me. Let’s take solace in the fact we’re all in this together; all as fat, bloated and cynical-once-more. It could be worse; we’ll stay like this for the month of January at the most. For Charles Saatchi, it’s a permanent affliction. *she exclaims quietly* happy noo yair.
