PAIGHTON INTERVIEW By Amy Keen

Paighton are a four-piece co-vocal up- and-coming band from the Midlands. Best described as ‘piano driven country-rock’ the group strives to push organic music back into the mainstream. Amy Keem has an exclusive interview with Joe Atkinson from the band

You describe yourself as ‘piano driven country rock’, who would you say were your biggest infl uences? I guess collectively we could probably say our infl uences tend to be people like Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum and a band called Parachute. Bands like that in

terms of the music we actually try to write. Individually, we actually have a really, really widely spread range of infl uences.

So do you fi nd it diffi cult to bring all of those together then, or is it easy to do? Kind of, but at the same time we’ve had enough time to nail exactly what kind of style we’re going for.

How did you come up with the name of the band? The name, well, it’s actually my middle name. Sorry to burst your bubble but there’s no cool story behind it I’m afraid.
