UPBEAT TIMES • September 2013 • 9 HUNDREDS OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES DONATED TO LOCAL AREA KIDS Weird Facts & Trivia - 3

PETALUMA, CA. ~ On August 2, Petaluma Dental Group partnered with Mentor

Me Petaluma to hold it’s first annual Art with a Heart event. Many children in our commu- nity can’t afford the supplies

they Deb Dalton of MMP and Dr Mangrum of PDG

need to go back to school. “ Some of the kids go to school with just one used pencil,” report- ed Deb Dalton, Executive Director of Mentor Me Petaluma. Thus, Art with a Heart was cre- ated. Backpacks,

markers, notebooks and other school supplies were donated by PDG patients, staff and the community at large for this first time event. A special thanks goes out to Fishman Supply for donating dozens of new scientific calculators for the older children in the program. Each child received a backpack and filled it with the supplies they chose and wanted. The smiles on their faces were great to see! The event also drew local artists displaying their origi- nal work including Peggy Sebera, Camille Johnson, Maria Lewis , Bob Marine , Chessi ? and Bruce Kurnow who performed live music while displaying his artwork. There were healthy gourmet snacks provided by Petaluma Dental Group as well as tast- ings provided by Sheila’s Burritos.
