Street junction were discussed. There was concern that the pro- posal had no benefits to Kings Hill residents in its current form. Itwas reported that an up- dated scheme incorporating a pedestrian crossing on the A228 at Kent Street and improve- ments to the pavements were proposed. Amended designs would be drawn up and the parish council consulted on them in due course. A report on the poor condi-

A request from the amenities committee for £2,500 of S106 grant for contribution to a youth pod was approved. The meeting heard volunteers would be needed to set up and clear away at the summer fete. It was agreed to ask the Kings Hill Rotary Club for help. It was reported that the com-

puter system had failed and was still undergoing problems. Further reports would be made when advice had been received from the council’s IT consult- ants.

CCTV had now been installed

Safety measures CHAIRMAN Bob Ulph said the parish council was investigat- ing options to improve traffic safety in CastleWay. The chair-

man reminded members that the focus for reviewing the junction layout was for safety reasons and not about reducing the volume of traffic for resi- dents in CastleWay. The meeting heard there had

been a burglary in Millbrook and thefts of cooking oil from The Old Rectory and the Castle Lake pubs. Therewere reports of vehicles

being damaged in Park Road, Broad Oak, and the Old Rectory car park. A number of children had

been reported behaving in an unacceptable manner in the children’s play area in Beads- man Crescent. All parties had been named and were being spoken to by police. A number of needles had

been found at Castle Lake and it was queried why these were not included in the crime re- port. The meeting heard these would not be included as they had been reported by email, and not by telephone to 101. There was disappointment about in- correct reporting of figures, es- pecially relating to serious issues such as drugs. Cllr Shrubsole reported that

the bollards and yellow lines had been installed on the A20 and the commuter cars had now shifted to Pump Close and Cas- tleWay. The need for a parking review was re-iterated. Borough Cllr Brian Luker re- minded members that the Ley- bourne Chase development section 106monies were still on hold. He added that it had been sug- gested that all the facilities on the development would stay in the possession of Taylor Wim- pey until they had left the site, after which the Community De- velopment Trust would take over the management. With regard to the parish and

ward boundaries, Cllr Mearns proposed that the parish coun- cil’s official response be that the London Road part of Ryarsh re- mainsinRyarshand theLey- bourne Chase development becomes wholly Leybourne. If it is discovered at the electoral services meeting that this is not possible, the parish councilwill submit the response that all of the area is transferred to Ley- bourne. The proposal was agreed. Cllr Mearns reminded mem-

bers thatWoodview School was looking for governors to set up a new board – any volunteers should contact the school.

Mereworth Council Resignation

CLLR Jon Regan was elected chairman. He reported that Cllr Dennis Styles was to resign from the parish council at the end of themeeting, and thanked him for his 12 years of excellent service.
