Documents you will need to produce


When giving notice you will need to produce proof of your identity, and nationality. We would prefer to see a current valid passport, but we will advise you as to what other forms of identity may be acceptable.


If you have been married or in a previous civil partnership and divorced you will need to show a decree absolute of divorce bearing the court’s original stamp. If the divorce took place in a foreign country you will need to produce the original document issued by that country and an English translation if the document is in a non- European language.


If your husband, wife or partner has died we will need to see a certified copy of their death certificate.


If you have changed your name by Deed Poll, Change of name Deed or by Statutory Declaration, the documents will need to be shown. The Deed should be registered with the Supreme Court of Deeds for it to be accepted.


If either of you is under eighteen we will need proof that your parents or guardian consent to the marriage or partnership. If your parents are divorced we will also need to see the Court Order that gives custody to one or other parent.


If you are not able to produce any of the above documents the Superintendent Registrar will explain what other documents are acceptable.

Os buoch yn briod neu mewn partneriaeth sifil o’r blaen ond rydych bellach wedi ysgaru, bydd angen i chi ddangos archddyfarniad absoliwt yn dangos stamp gwreiddiol y llys. Os cynhaliwyd yr ysgariad mewn gwlad dramor dydd angen i chi gyflwyno’r ddogfen wreiddiol a gyhoeddwyd gan y wlad honno, ynghyd a chyfieithiad Saesneg os yr’r ddogfen mewn iaith nad yw’n iaith Ewropeaidd.


Os bu farw eich gwr neu’ch gwraig bydd angen i ni weld copi o’r dystysgrif marwolaeth.


Os ydych wedi newid eich enw trwy weithred newid enw neu drwy Ddatganiad Statudol bydd angen i chi ddangos y dogfennau. Dylai’r Weithred fod wedi ei chofrestru gyda’r Goruchaf Lys cyn idi gael ei derbyn.


Os Yw’r nail neu’r llall ohonoch dan ddeunaw bydd angen prawf bod eich rhieni neu warcheidwad yn cytuno i’r briodas neu’r bartneriaeth. Os yw eich rhieni wedi ysgaru bydd hefyd angen i ni weld y Gorchymyn Llys sy’n nod i ba riant y rhoddwyd y warchodaeth.


Os na fedrwch gyflwyno unrhyw rhai o’r dogfennau uchod cewch esboniad gan y Cofrestrydd Arolygol ynghylch y dogfennau eraill sy’n dderbyniol.
