Yellow and orange link up in cricket ticket deal

Hampshire Cricket and The Orange Rooms bar have combined to offer Southampton fun-seekers the ultimate night out during the Royals‘ Friends Life t20 (FLt20) campaign this summer.

The Bedford Place bar and West End-situated Ageas Bowl have launched their ‘yellow and orange cricket tickets‘ deal which provides transport from Bedford Place to the home of Hampshire Cricket, entry to one of the Royals‘ five home FLt20 matches and transport back to The Orange Rooms, where punters will get free entry into the bar and a free drink, all for £20.

As part of the deal, a special Orange Rooms DJ will be providing music for each match, helping to keep the party going throughout the evening.

Hotel investment package two- thirds subscribed

The 200th Diamond Debenture has been bought in the Hilton hotel which is currently under construction at the northern end of The Ageas Bowl.

This means the attractive investment package, which was released last year, is now two- thirds subscribed with only 100 more available.

The landmark investor was Hampshire Cricket committee member Bob Murrell, who has been a member of the club since 1972. He said: “This was something I had been looking at for a while. Both the investment and the cricket side were attractive to me.“

A single Diamond Debenture is £7,500 and proceeds will be used to assist with the re-financing being undertaken by The Ageas Bowl to complete the final stages of the venue development.

Alton Fourmarks are celebrating being among the first of 500 hotels from the Travelodge estate to benefit from a major refurbishment, which includes a new room design and a luxury bed called the Travelodge Dreamer – deemed in the industry ‘the Rolls Royce of beds‘. This means over 150 rooms have been refitted in Hampshire already, at a cost of £650,000.

The work is part of a company- wide brand investment of £223m this year to help further grow the business, strengthen the brand offering and make Travelodge the best-value hotel chain in the UK.

Hotels in Bournemouth, Southampton and on the Isle of Wight are scheduled to be refitted later this year and by the end of 2013, Travelodge plans to have refitted more than 50% of all its rooms.

“This capital expenditure will help us grow our business, strengthen our product offering and make Travelodge the best value hotel chain in the UK,“ added O‘Brien.
