ing oil was taken from the storage tank of a property in Swanton Road, West Peckham. There was a burglary
at a property in Plover Road, Larkfield, and items were taken.

Benefits cheat mum in court A 44-YEAR-old woman was handed a community serv- ice order after fraudulently claiming more than £9,000 in benefit.
Amanda Babington, formerly of Nursery Road, Ditton, admitted two counts of failing to notify a change in her circumstances, resulting in her being overpaid £8,375.28 in housing benefit and £1,043.74 in council tax benefit. Sevenoaks magistrates sentenced her to 90 hours com- munity service within 12 months and ordered her to pay £250 costs. The court heard she was repaying the over- payment. The mother of one had initially failed to tell Tonbridge
and Malling Council that her boyfriend had moved in with her, and then later failed to tell the authority that she had married him. Cllr Martin Coffin, the council’s cabinet member for fi- nance, said: “It is right that those whose circumstances entitle them to receive help and benefits, get all that they are entitled to. “However, those who seek to gain more than their enti- tlement are committing fraud, and the extra costs in- curred falls upon the council tax payer. The council has a team dedicated to detecting such frauds and we are pleased to record another successful prosecution.”

AN ESTIMATED £30,000 has been raised for Aylesford-based Heart of Kent Hospice during a walk in thewoods. Almost 1,200 supporters, friends, volunteers and staff pulled on their hiking boots to take part in the26thBluebell Walk, a six-mile circular route across the North Downs and through the privately-owned bluebell woods within the Torry Hill Estate, to the north of Harri- etsham. Walkers were greeted at the
end of the walk by the hospice’s patron, Lady Monckton, and en- joyed a ploughman’s lunch pro- vided by Sainsbury’s in Larkfield. Organisers said theywere “de-
