Connie Campbell ’13 took part in the highly competitive UCLA Sci/Art NanoLab programme for two weeks in August taking part in lab visits, workshops and hands-on experiments and meeting world renowned scientists. She was one of 40 students accepted into the highly competitive programme from all over the world. Her fascination with experiments has fuelled her passion for science, helping her to realise her love for Material Engineering. Connie will graduate this Spring and hopes to attend Birmingham University in England next fall.
Alicia Kirby ’13 represented Bermuda and BHS at The Hague for a Model United Nations Conference. Her involvement with Round Square at the School has fuelled her interest in international affairs and she participated in a student exchange and service project, part of the Round Square opportunities available at BHS.
BHS Students and staff have supported many charities so far this year, PALS Mad Hair Day being just one. A variety of bouffants, afros and mohawks could be seen all day!
Students also stepped out to support the CORE Family Fun walk, supporting the Bermuda Heart Foundation where they won the prize for the biggest group of walkers.
BHS are Senior School Swimming Champions for 2012! The Under 16s placed first, over 16s second and BHS’s first boys swim team took the bronze. The Primary team also raced, winning the A division and coming second in the B division.
BHS raised $6,665, one of the highest amounts raised, for the 2012 Partner Re Breast Cancer Walk and the School Spirit Award in October.
BHS students took to the stage while performing Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ during the Bermuda Shakespeare Schools’ Festival.
Our Middle School Debate Team won for the second consecutive year with a sweep in the Outstanding Speaker category, by taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd! Senior Teams also participated and captured 1st and 3rd for Outstanding Speakers.
Katie Ewles ’13, a talented musician who has performed in many school drama productions, this past winter, was able to perform one of her own pieces at the St John’s Church Youth Choir’s annual Christmas concert.
