porchs floor is made of synthetic wood tongue & groove material, designed to replicate traditional his- toric deck flooring. It is color impregnated and will never need painting and, unlike real wood, it will not decay over time.


All exterior siding is a cementitious product manufac- tured by James Hardie and has a factory-impregnat- ed color that is warranteed to last for 15 years. Te concrete siding offers excellent weather, and flame resistance, pest resistance and color durability (if a color option is selectede. All exterior trim is made of synthetic wood (vinyl) and, like the porch floor will neither rot nor need painting.


Finally, the new kitchen’s radiant-heated floor pro- vides a consistently warm surface that can easily be appreciated by parents of small children who play or crawl on the floor. Te surface is also easy on the feet, quiet and uniformly heats the room.


Evaluation of the addition’s insulation, air infiltra- tion and window U-factors indicated that the exist- ing boiler did not need to be upgraded. Te modified heating system now consists of one zone for the unal- tered part of the house; another zone for the new ad- dition, dining room and new office (old kitchen); and
