NEWS Andalusian tech centres plan unmanned solar aircraft
Four Andalusian technological centres will join their experience and capabilities to develop a technological research project based on an unmanned solar aircraft. With the goal of applying advances in new materials, microelectronics, robotics and analytical management processes, in which they have been working as a prior step to develop possible applications in large aircraft, this is the first project in which the Andalusian Institute for Technology (IAT), the Centre for Advanced Aerospace Technologies (CATEC), the Andalusian Centre for Innovation, Information and Communications Technology (CITIC) and the Advanced Technology Centre for Renewable Energy (CTAER) will work together. Within the framework of the II Transfiere Forum, the four
centres have signed a further agreement of collaboration with which they can obtain the advantages and synergies among their different research lines, such as surveillance actions, technology transfer, seminars, training activities and the dissemination of information in areas that share similar interests. According to signatories, Antonio Valverde Ramos, FADA-
CATEC’s president, Valeriano Ruiz Hernández, CTAER’s president, José Miguel Sánchez Jiménez, CITIC’s president and José Luis Calvo Borrego, IAT’s president, the possibilities of a joint collaboration are especially important in industrial sectors such as aerospace and energy where Europe has set out demanding technological and environmental challenges within
the next few years.
