Castle planning granted


Conwy County Council has granted consent for saving one of North Wales's principal landmark buildings and its conversion into a 5-star hotel. Key to the success of the project has been a 50 bedroom extension to the Grade I listed castle. Specialist conservation architects Donald Insall Associates has designed the extension as a terraced garden which was welcomed as a positive addition to the historic Castle.


Science and innovation park MARCHINI Curran Associates has been appointed to carry out the first phase of a multi- million pound science and innovation park. MCa will create a new flagship centre, which will be part of a major hub for science and technology expertise. Based in Lincoln, the science and innovation park will be created by the University of Lincoln and Lincolnshire Co-operative. The first phase will see Becor House, an existing 1940s building, and adjacent Minster House, extensively refurbished and significantly extended.

Assael’s Paddington scheme submitted


Amwaj Property Limited has submitted a planning application for Site 1 of Assael’s emerging masterplan for North Wharf Gardens in Paddington. The £70 million mixed-use scheme, will deliver 150 new residential apartments as well as retail, business, social and community space and an improved public realm. The overall masterplan covers 1.48 hectares in Paddington, on the site of the former North Westminster Community School, within the City of Westminster. Subject to consent, Site 1 will start on site in 2013, with completion due in 2015.
