THE PERFECT BOILED EGG!
Boiled eggs are a good breakfast choice and some wholegrain toast to accompany will provide some much needed fibre. Here are a few good tips to follow for the perfect boiled egg: Use eggs that are at room temperature. Cold eggs put straight into boiling water are much more likely to crack.
Use a timer! Guessing the timing is a hazardous approach.
Let the steam out. By putting a pinprick in the rounded end of the shell before boiling, steam can escape from the air pocket in the egg, which would otherwise cause cracking.
Just a simmer. Never have your water on a rapid boil.
Allow time for fresh ones. If the eggs are less than four days old, add 30 seconds to your timing.
Method for the perfect egg: 1 Place your eggs in a pan full of cold water, so that the eggs are covered by about 1 1
/2 cm.
2 Place onto a high heat, then reduce to a simmer as soon as the water begins to boil. 3 Continue to simmer for 3 minutes for a soft-boiled egg, 4 minutes for a creamy yolk and set white or 5 minutes for set white and yolk, with only a slightly gooey centre.
