Mopar is the title sponsor of Canada’s two biggest drag races
n 2012, Mopar celebrated its 75th anniversary. For many of those years, Mopar racers and enthusiasts have
headed to drag strips to share their passion for the sport. In Canada, Mopar continues that tradition by sponsoring the country’s two largest drag racing events. Te annual Mopar Rocky Mountain
IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals take place in early July at Edmonton, Alberta’s Castrol Raceway. Te three-day event celebrated its
10th anniversary in 2012. In just one decade, it has become – according to the IHRA sanctioning body – the largest event on the IHRA calendar, and the biggest drag race in all of Canada. Each year, massive crowds of automotive
and drag racing fanatics are drawn to the Mopar Rocky Mountain Nationals to expe- rience a unique line-up of classes, vehicles and spectacles not found anywhere else in the sport. IHRA President Aaron Polburn
has called the Edmonton fans, “Te best in drag racing… period.” And just two weeks after the conclusion of the Mopar Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton, the tour heads east to the shores of Ontario’s Lake Huron for an appearance at Grand Bend Motorplex and the Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals. As is the case in Edmonton, the Grand
Bend event is a three-day racing extrava- ganza that features multiple professional and
