Mopar shows the way on Canada’s NASCAR Series

anadian stock car racers and fans are very familiar with Mopar. Te com- pany has had a prominent profile in

courses from coast to coast, thrilling fans at the country’s top motorsports events and venues. Tese days, Mopar is a major contingency

sponsor of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, powering the vast majority of the se- ries’ top drivers, including Ron Beauchamp Jr. Te Windsor, Ontario racer has com- peted with primary sponsorship from Mopar since 1997. And while Team Mopar drivers have al-

ways done very well, the 2012 season was their best ever. Leading the way for the Mopar contin-

gent was NASCAR veteran DJ Kennington, who won a record-setting seven races. Te St. Tomas, Ontario resident earned his sec- ond career NASCAR championship on the strength of 11 top-five results (in 12 starts), including an incredible mid-season string of five consecutive victories. “I’ve driven Mopar-powered Dodges

since I was 14; they’re the only car I’ve ever driven,” says Kennington. “As a manufac- turer, they’ve stayed true to Canadian stock car racing. They believe in their products, and that feeling goes all the way to the top. Mopar and Dodge have been good to me

for a long time, and I plan to win races and championships in their products for many years to come.” In all, Mopar drivers won all but two of the 12 Canadian NASCAR races in 2012 and secured nine of the top 10 final point positions in the season-long championship. One of those, Quebec’s Martin Roy,

earned the Rookie of the Year award. Roy came home eighth in the standings in his inaugural season on Canada’s top stock car tour.

Mopar has been the primary sponsor of

Ron Beauchamp Jr. since the late ‘90s. Dur- ing that time, Canada’s NASCAR series

(CASCAR & NASCAR) has come to be increasingly dominated by Mopar-powered teams. According to Beauchamp, there’s no mystery to why this has happened. “I’ve always been a Mopar / Dodge guy;

I owe them my whole racing career,” says Beauchamp. “They’ve been my primary sponsor. They’ve given me technical sup- port and have given our team a high pro- file with their marketing efforts. MOPAR has been the #1 supporter of the series and its racers for as long as I can remember, sponsoring our team, many races and their incredible contingency awards.” Asked about Mopar’s close relationship
