OUR STORIES IN RAF NEWS
Pitfall of a Pension Sharing Order Dear RAF FF, Please would you point out to potential divorcees the pitfalls of a Pension Sharing Order to the serving member. When the order is made, SPVA provide an estimate of the share. However, if the serving person continues to serve, the member’s portion of the pension share is reduced by some £2,000 pa. Seemingly, to pay for the ‘debt’ incurred between the PSO award date and the retirement date. This is completely unfair and grossly unreasonable.
NHS Dental funding is not transferable Dear RAF FF. While in Scotland, our daughter was assessed to qualify for NHS orthodontic treatment and fitted with braces. Following a posting to High Wycombe we were told we would be required to privately fund the remainder of her treatment. It would appear NHS medical treatment is now transferable between trusts but dental treatment is not.
Worry at Leaving the RAF Dear RAF FF. The RAF is not extending my husband’s service and we are both extremely worried about how we will manage after he leaves. We have substantial debts and are already drowning in interest payments, we will be homeless too. My husband is so busy at work he is finding it very difficult to access advice and resettlement. Can anyone help?
