DOW speedway trax heads

While the majority of the UK has been battered by heavy rain and strong winds with wide-spread flooding affecting many parts, Australia has been basking in high temperatures.

Practice was actually cancelled at Olympic Park, Mildura this week due to the heat, with temperatures reaching 41 degrees and forecasters predicting it would rise further still, up to 45!

This Sunday is a big day for the club when the juniors race in their state title.

THE countdown has begun for one of the most talked about international speedway meetings in Australia, the 2012 Perth Tattoo Rob Woffinden Classic.

This meeting takes place on Saturday, December 1 at Perth’s ultra exciting Pinjar Park.

Another all-star cast heads down under to pay homage to the great man in this special event where spectators have the chance to catch some of the best in the business as they ‘turn it on’ around one of the most exciting race tracks in the country.

Aussie Sidecar superstar Glen O’Brien and former Aussie Champ Russell Mitchell headline nine of the best sidecar combinations in the state. The following international riders are among the big names lining up alongside the top local stars: Tai Woffinden, Ricky Wells, Simon Stead, Ty Proctor, Ricky Kling, Morten Risager, Cameron Heeps, Joe Jacobs and Ryan Sedgmen. The 17-year-old Pinjar Park product Cameron Heeps has recently returned home after his second full time season of racing following an injury plagued season in the UK. One of WA’s most decorated junior speedway riders teamed up with Mildenhall team-mate Lewis Blackbird to win the National League Pairs title and

Heeps, who also rode with Premier League club Ipswich in a double up role with some success, will be looking for some big scalps in his second appearance at the Rob Woffinden Classic. The big names won’t worry him and he will be keen to show why he’s been labelled one of the most exciting and talented young riders today. Backed by his hugely supportive family, Heeps says he loves getting back into ‘Perth mode’, loves his Nan’s cooking and loves racing at one of his favourite tracks in Pinjar Park.

Speedway Motorcycle Club WA are also very pleased to announce more exciting news with the confirmation of an Oz Hot Shots v International All Stars Team Challenge, which will take place on December 8 at Pinjar Park.
