Week-ending DECEMBER 1
THIS week’s cover star has pledged loyalty to a club that gave him his Elite League chance. Craig Cook has signed a new deal with Belle Vue for 2013, even though his Premier League future is still undecided. “It was Belle Vue who came for me in 2011 and it was them who came for me again this year. They have showed loyalty to me and that’s why I said I will go back again and give it another go with them,” says Cook.
Also this week, we’ve got further news on the proposed European Cup, Freddie Lindgren’s testimonial, plus the first tests on a rev limiter which could cut rider costs. Peter Oakes launches a special investigation into why Britain’s out in the international wilderness, this week seeking the views of former GB captain Kelvin Tatum and former managers Eric Boocock and Rob Lyon. Belle Vue and Mildenhall
are under the Track Review spotlight, plus we’ve got all the early transfer updates.

SCOTT Nicholls, whose name was linked with a number of Elite League clubs as a possible 2013 recruit, has been confirmed as captain of the Coventry Bees for next year’s campaign.
But what of Chris Harris, who was skipper this year? Will he stay or will he go? A Harris transfer could kick- start a merry-go-round of moves amongst some of the higher average riders in the EL.
Harris has been linked with a switch to Swindon to join up with Alun Rossiter, who accompanied him to many of the Grand Prix rounds this year. Rosco was also his team manager at Coventry for a while and has always believed he can get the best out of the Cornishman. If Harris were to join the Robins they would need to release either Hans Andersen or Troy Batchelor from their 2012 championship winning squad. They are Peterborough assets, of course, although it is unlikely that the Panthers would want both back, assuming Kenneth Bjerre is fit to resume his place as their spearhead.

Andersen would certainly be welcomed at Coventry although he does seem very keen on staying at Swindon.
Without the burden of the SGP series, and all the problems that entailed for him, Harris should better his domestic form this year and a move to either Birmingham – a track he rides particularly well – or Peterborough has also been mooted.
