orthside Speedway Training Track held its first ever Amateur race meeting on Saturday, November 24 and it proved to be a resounding success.
The weather surpisingly held up as riders of all ages flocked to take part. There were 22 riders in total, split into
four ability groups: A 50cc group, a novice class for riders up to 140cc, and intermediate class for up to 160cc bikes, and a 500cc group. Each group got four heats, followed by an A and B
GTS Videos were at Northside and captured an interview with Craig Branney before the

final. The meeting ran incredibly smoothly, with only a few spills and delays.
The first race of the day was won by Jacob Rosser (nephew of ex-speedway riders Craig and John Branney), followed closely home by five-year-old Oliver Hiddleston, who comes from a long line of motorcyclists, with grandfather Jimmy O’Connor once riding for Workington Comets.
