While 2012 hasn’t been easy, thankfully it isn’t 2009. I’m impressed by the resiliency of our industry considering the current slow- to no-growth environment. I have immense regard for the character and drive of those who work so hard to get the job done in spite of the fiscal and regulatory headwinds we face today.
As I reflect on the past 75 years, I can only say, “We’ve come so far!” With more than 340 members, a state of the art headquarters and top-notch safety and education programs, I can’t help but be thankful for the visionary founders, our past presidents and past-chairmen of this association.

It goes without saying, that since 2001, when Karen Rasmussen took over the helm of our association, she has set the bar to a new height. Her ability to connect it all together is amazing! You don’t really know how much effort and energy goes into the success that we enjoy here at ATA until you’ve experienced being the chairman and working with this talented woman. Trust me—it’s not as easy as she makes it look! I’ve been enlightened and so appreciate Karen’s vision, leadership, genuine concern for our association and her true friendship with so many of our members.
The staff at Arizona Trucking Association (ATA) shares our vision and has been working diligently to continue to provide an excellent value to our members. ATA remains committed to providing political and regulatory advocacy on our behalf; the premier State Leadership Conference; a top notch title and registration agency; numerous educational opportunities and nationally recognized highway safety programs.
We kicked off the legislative session with our first Truck Safety Day at the legislature. Mother Nature cooperated and we had a perfect day on the Capitol grounds for a fabulously successful event. Many of the legislators visited our truck and trailer displays, as well as the DPS and DOT displays. Even the FMSCA Chief Safety Officer Jack Van Steenburg, was present for this event and led an interesting session at ADOT! Throughout the 2012

As I think about all that’s transpired over the past year, our association has had quite a 75th anniversary! It’s been a fantastic celebration so far and we hope that you made plans to attend our Gala 75th Anniversary event at the Leadership Conference in Tucson at the Ventana Canyon Resort.
