SCRCHA Saddle Shoot Out Annual

clubs are getting in their final shows before the start of the new season. On October 19-21, the Southern California Reining Cow Horse Association (SCRCHA) held their grand finale to their show season, the 7th Annual Saddle Shoot Out, at Casner Ranch in Temecula, California. With 3 saddles up for grabs, numerous other prizes and the pressure on to earn the final winnings of the season, competitors were out in full force again this year. Although this year faced some challenging weath-


er, with scattered showers throughout the weekend, that didn’t keep this year from being yet another successful show. With last year’s huge entry increase they prepared


for this year by starting out with 2 arenas, 2 judges and 150 cattle. With prizes ranging from saddles and Dave Thornbury chaps to bits and romel reins, along with various other prizes, there was plenty up for grabs to be won.


Friday’s “Cut for a Cause” was a huge success


with an increase in entries from 38 last year to 55 this year. Over $8,700 was raised for this year’s cause The All Glory Project. The All Glory Project supports ani- mal-assisted therapies for military veterans and their families across America. This year’s Open Saddle winner was Aaron


Brookshire aboard Krugerrand Queen owned by Suzanne Scott. Aaron could not be more thrilled with his win. “I had a great ride,” commented Aaron, “The cattle were really fresh and everyone in the club is very


encouraging, both trainers and non pros alike.” Aaron’s client Kailey Culligan was the Youth


Limited Reserve Champion this year. Kailey works really hard and is a good kid,” said Aaron of Kailey, “This is only her 2nd full year showing and she showed really well. I am very proud of her and all she has learned this year.” Roy Rich, who won the open saddle the last 2


years in a row, won the Open Reserve Championship Title this year aboard Say No Way owned by Candy and Monta Flock. “ I was really excited to see Aaron win the title this year,” commented Roy on Aaron’s win. Roy finished the show with a little over $3,000 in winning aboard 10 different horses. Roy added, “The club real-
